Digital Twin Awards: Success Stories
Every year, the Digital Twin Awards celebrate the best in virtual tour innovation. These awards provide a platform for virtual tour providers to showcase their finest work and inspire others to reach similar heights of success.
With hundreds of submissions across categories such as real estate, arts and culture, historical preservation, education, and more, the awards highlight the diverse and impactful applications of 3D technology.
This year, two Treedis users clinched first place in their respective categories. Farhad Berahman from Limina Studios won gold in the historical category, while Francesco Loddo from SardiniaVirtualTour3D triumphed in the hospitality category.
We are proud of their achievements. In this blog post, we’ll explore the journey behind their winning submissions and the return on investment (ROI) they’ve experienced by implementing Treedis technology.
Limina Studios: Unveiling AlUla
AlUla, an ancient oasis city in Medina Province, Saudi Arabia, is located in the Hejaz region, significant in Islamic and pre-Islamic Semitic history. Once a market city on the incense route connecting India and the Persian Gulf to the Levant and Europe, AlUla boasts a wealth of artefacts, including ancient stone inscriptions that trace the development of the Arabic language, and rock dwellings and tombs from the Nabatean and Dedanite periods influenced by Greco-Roman culture.
The virtual tour of this archeological site offers significant educational and cultural benefits.
“Around 2 million individuals globally have interacted with AlUla’s 360 virtual tour,” informed Farhad, highlighting the global exposure that came with creating an accessible virtual tour of AlUla.
“When you have this type of engagement it just shows the appeal and accessibility of the virtual tour concept. People of all ages and backgrounds have been able to experience this historic site in an immersive way,” explained Farhad.
Coupled with powerful analytic tools provided by Treedis, Limina Studios has been able to analyse the data and do a deep dive on key metrics such as views, shares, and time spent in the tour as well as where the visitors are based.
“Having this kind of data highlights the success of the virtual tour but also gives us plenty to work with going forward to improve the experience for future visitors,” added Farhad.
But capturing a space as vast as AlUla is no easy task and there were a fair amount of challenges involved in the process for Limina Studios, such as overcoming photographic issues caused by the intense sunlight in the region and gaining permission to access the site.
“Fortunately, we have lots of experience in photography and digital technologies plus we could lean on tech partners such as Matterport and Treedis to make the entire process go even more smoothly,” explained Farhad.
Having platforms that allow continuous customization of digital twins means that new features can be added at any time to enhance virtual tours and keep them cutting-edge. Moving forward, Limina Studios plans to implement augmented reality on the site to engage visitors both on and off site.
“We have an innovative team at Limina Studios and it is part of our work ethic/culture to stay ahead of the curve in the fast-moving virtual tour sector. With collaborations with industry leaders such as Matterport and Treedis, our intention is to leverage the latest advancements in digital capture devices and software solutions to create an engaging virtual tour that users will keep coming back to again and again,” said Farhad.
Elevating Experiences: Loddo’s Maiori Villasimius Transformation
Maiori Villasimius, captured by Francesco, is a historic venue that has been transformed into a location for parties, weddings, concerts and more.
A virtual tour for Maiori Villasimius serves as a powerful tool in enhancing visibility and engagement, allowing potential visitors or clients to explore the property from anywhere at any time.
This immersive experience aids in informed decision-making, offering a detailed insight into the property's amenities and surroundings without the need for physical presence. Moreover, it acts as a cost-effective marketing strategy, distinguishing Maiori Villasimius from competitors by demonstrating a commitment to customer service and transparency.
Through the virtual tour, Maiori achieved a large increase in bookings for places to organise events, weddings, birthday parties and private parties.
The virtual tour was created at the end of the season, this allowed customers to view the structure as if they were really present, and the Maiori staff to achieve results in terms of bookings with an increase of 25% compared to the previous year,” explained Francesco.
Virtual tours not only facilitate a broader reach and better brand positioning but also provide valuable feedback for improvements, making them an essential component in the modern showcasing and marketing of destinations.
“The Virtual Tour with the Treedis layout allowed not only the inclusion of music which makes the tour more pleasant, but also a legend with the nomenclature of the various environments, the floor plan, thus making navigation of the site more engaging for the end user,” said Francesco.
Redefining Engagement Through Innovation
The success stories of Farhad Berahman from Limina Studios and Francesco Loddo from SardiniaVirtualTours3D at this year’s Digital Twin Awards underscore the transformative potential of Treedis technology.
By leveraging advanced 3D capabilities, both projects have significantly enhanced user engagement, educational outreach, and commercial success. Their achievements serve as inspiring examples of how virtual tours can revolutionize the way we experience and interact with historical sites and modern venues.
As Treedis continues to innovate and support its users, we look forward to seeing even more groundbreaking projects that push the boundaries of what’s possible in the world of digital twins.
